Overview of Screening Procedures
|
Carotid Artery Screening- $40
|
Test Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will apply ultrasound gel to the transducer, which will be
positioned along both sides of the neck to enable visualization of both carotid arteries.
Purpose: Utilizing the use of Doppler ultrasound to visualize the inside of the carotid
arteries for the presence of plaque.
Abdominal Aortic Screening (AAA)- $40
|
Peripheral Artery Disease Screening (PAD) - $40
|
Osteoporosis Screening - $30
|
Gallbladder Screening - $40
|
Test Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will apply ultrasound gel to the transducer, which will be
positioned onto your abdomen to enable the visualization of your abdominal aorta.
Purpose: Utilizing the use of ultrasound to visualize the abdominal aorta for the
presence of an aneurysm.
Test Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will have you remove both shoes and socks. Pressure
cuffs will be applied to both upper arms and above both ankles. Pressure readings will
be taken at all cuff locations.
Purpose: Utilizing a hand-held doppler instrument to obtain systolic arm and ankle
pressures to determine the presence of arterial obstruction in the legs (PAD).
Test Time: 3 to 5 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will have you remove either your right or left shoe and sock.
They will then place your foot into a bone densitometer machine which will measure
your bone density.
Purpose: Utilizing the FDA approved Bone Densitometer to identify your potential risk for
future fracture and bone loss.
Test Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will apply ultrasound gel to the transducer, which will be
positioned along both sides of the neck to enable visualization of both thyroid glands.
Purpose: Utilizing the use of ultrasound to visualize the thyroid gland for the presence of
nodules and cysts.
Preparation: Requires a 6 hour fast prior to screening.
Test Time: 5 to 10 minutes.
Procedure: The technologist will apply ultrasound gel to the transducer, which will be
positioned onto your abdomen to enable visualization of your gallbladder.
Purpose: Utilizing ultrasound to visualize the gallbladder for the presence of gallstones
or any other gallbladder related problems.
